The Watch That Ends the Night is located in King’s Wharf in Downtown Dartmouth, south facing, with an incredible panoramic view of the Halifax skyline and harbour. The room comfortably seats up to 50 dining guests with ample standing room and soft seating for up to 85 in all. We have a cocktail and wine focused beverage program with a large selection of medium-to-high end spirits (over 180 bottles), a 35-bottle wine list and several draught, bottled beer and cider options. Our food program has a focus on what we like to call Canadian terroir, with a small but ever-changing menu that is based off of local farms produce and protein availability. The Watch’s décor is inspired by mid-century North American hotel lounges, overlaid with the aesthetic of Canadian paperback novels – mahogany, dark blues, light greens, many plants and mirrors. Low level lighting with lots of natural sunlight or starlight shining through our floor-to-ceiling windows that encapsulate the space. Our soundtrack is inspired by 1920’s – 1960’s hotel lounges as well, playing blues, jazz, motown and funk. Overall, the vibe is relaxed and upbeat, yet refined. Lounge areas, banquettes, soft seating and communal seating bring the room together for entertaining throughout the day or night.

The Watch can host up to 80 guests offering the best in cocktails, wine, spirits, and beer alongside a host of charcuterie, hot and cold canapés, hors d’oeuvres and sharing platter options tailored to your needs.

Our Chef, Manager, and Head Bartender will sit down with you to determine a customized menu based on each party’s budget and needs, as specialized or as free-form as best suits each event. We can also coordinate with you to arrange entertainment.

Venue is available for buy-out; pricing varies based on individual needs and day of the week.

Cassiopeia, our brand new private dining room, is able to host nearly any kind of celebration, event or gathering for up to 12 guests - 7 days a week.

We want to show the refined and elevated side of The Watch’s kitchen, and this is the perfect space to execute it in. 5 - 14 course meals are available upon request, and the menu can be fully customized to your wants and needs.

Cassiopeia is located in the front left corner of The Watch. It began its life as a retail store, SideCar Goods, but quickly turned over when Chef Mark Gray took control in May. Black and gold grace the walls, while beautiful mahogany pieces finish the room. In the centre, a 12-seat, custom 7’ x 7’ mahogany table will be the focus of the space. Private, yet somewhat open to the restaurant, it is unique due to half the walls being mahogany slats that open up the room to The Watch’s ambiance. Almost as if you are in The Watch, while having the exclusivity and elevated experience of Cassiopeia Private Dining.

If you wish to request a booking, or enquire about the room in general, contact us via email at: join.us@cassiopeiaprivatedining.com!
